The people who study these things say that the primary difference between Joe Satriani and Joe Six-Pack is practice. LOTS of practice. 10,000 hours of practice, on average. Before I learned this, I figured that the primary difference between me and Eric Clapton (besides millions in both dollars and adoring fans) was some kind of innate talent. If it's only practice, I should be able to scale the same musical heights, right? So I figure it this way: With only an hour a day, I should be playing like David Gilmour by the time I'm 70.

This blog will chart my progress, such as it turns out to be.
